The really bad part is that I can't stand sleeping without something that has more weight than a sheet over me. So it's either not sleep, or sweat like crazy.
I had a bunch of shirts that I was wondering what to do with, so I decided to make a tied quilt that had double layers of shirts to provide weight, but no batting so that it stays cool.
I am pleasantly surprised at the results, and absolutely torked because the husband liked it too, and now I have to make a second one.
Sorry, best shot I could get before someone snagged it and claimed it as theirs. I think this blanket may start a family war.
A healthy look of disapproval from my "supervisor", Pixel. Though, I think he secretly wanted the blanket too... if just to chew on.
I started by ordering a large pizza from Papa Johns, but I'm sure any large pizza will do.
Take the cardboard lid and cut off all the flaps, so you have a nice big square. Use it as a template to cut all your shirts to that size. Try to get the logos as close to the middle as possible. If you have to incorporate the collar into the square that's no biggie.
Cut a square 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" out of each corner, and then cut strips 2 1/2" long by 1/2-3/4 wide. Doesn't have to be exact, but make sure you have the same number of strips for each square. This caused a 15 minute headache for me :P
Now comes the fun! Starting with backsides together, start tying square knots on one side of the squares together. Repeat until you have the length/width you want. Then make all the other strips that length. Then tie each strip together with backsides together. Mine is 6Lx5W, but It's still not long enough, so I'll be adding more later.
You can tie the edges if you want, but I left mine loose, much more comfortable.
Jump under and try to make sure nobody steals it from you!

I'm a little confused at how I have to cut the shirt panels. Do you have some kind of picture you could use to show me?
